Switching your account to private gives you more control over who can see your content and interact with your profile. It changes how your posts, profile, and connections are shared across the platform.

Greater control over your content

When your account is set to private:

  • Your posts are only visible to people who follow you
  • Users who do not follow you won’t be able to see or search for your posts in feeds
  • You may see a reminder when posting something new (to the feeds of your followers only), letting you know your content will be shared with followers only

This helps ensure your content stays within a more trusted audience.

Managing follower requests

With a private account:

  • Other users must send you a follow request to see your content
  • You can accept or decline these requests from your profile
  • Users can track requests they’ve sent to you

This gives you full control over who can follow you. Please note that if you switch back to a public account, any pending requests will be automatically accepted

Profile and interaction changes

A few interaction features are adjusted to support your privacy:

  • Your profile will display additional privacy options and controls
  • Users can still block, hide, or report your account if needed
  • The message button will not appear on your profile

Messaging and connections

  • You can still start conversations with others, or continue existing ones
  • Other users may still be able to message you in certain cases (for example, if a conversation already exists)
  • Some features, such as Available to Chat, are not available while your account is private
