What moderation settings are available to me?

We understand that everyone’s experience in the app is personal. To help you feel more comfortable and in control, we offer a range of moderation tools that allow you to tailor what you see and interact with.

You can access these anytime by going to Settings → Moderation Tools. Below is a guide to the options available.

What are trigger filters and how do they work?
Trigger filters add a warning layer to content that may be sensitive. When enabled, posts containing certain triggers are blurred behind a filter, allowing you to choose whether or not to view them.

To add a trigger tag to your post, tap on the ‘...’ in the top right hand corner from within post draft mode and select a Trigger Tag from the following list of options:

  • Self harm

  • Eating disorders

  • Bereavement

  • Abuse

  • Sexual Assault

  • Sexual Content

Why was my post removed even though it had a trigger tag?

Please note that applying a trigger tag to your post does not exempt it from moderation. All content on the platform is still subject to our community guidelines and moderation processes, regardless of whether a trigger tag is used. If a post violates our guidelines, it may still be removed even if it includes a trigger tag. Trigger tags are designed to help other users manage their experience. They allow people to filter or prepare for content that may be sensitive or difficult for them. By using trigger tags, you’re helping others navigate content more comfortably based on their personal preferences, sensitivities, or experiences.

In short, trigger tags support user well-being and content awareness, but they do not replace or override our moderation standards.

If you prefer not to use this feature, you can disable trigger filters from within Moderation Tools.

Can I hide anonymous posts?
Yes, while users can post anonymously in the app, you have the option to hide anonymous posts entirely. This setting can be adjusted in Moderation Tools if you prefer not to see this type of content.

What are boosted posts and can I hide them?
Boosted posts are posts that are given higher visibility and remain on the feed for up to four hours. If you do not wish to see boosted posts, you can choose to hide them from your feed through Moderation Tools.

Can I manage users I have blocked or hidden?
Yes, Moderation Tools provides a dedicated section where you can view and manage all users you have blocked or hidden. You can update these lists at any time.

Can I mute specific words or keywords?
Yes, you can create a custom list of muted keywords to filter out content that may be uncomfortable or irrelevant to you. For example, you might choose to mute words like “violence,” “blood,” or “overdose.” You can add, remove, or edit keywords at any time from within Moderation Tools.

What are trigger categories?
Trigger categories allow you to filter content based on broader themes. You can select from categories such as sexual, violence, self-harm, and dieting. Once selected, posts that fall under these themes will be filtered with a warning, giving you the option to view or skip them. These preferences can be updated at any time.

Can I control who can tag me?
Yes, you can manage tagging permissions based on your preference. You can choose from the following options:

  • Anyone can tag you

  • Only people you follow who follow you back can tag you

  • No one can tag you

This can be configured within Moderation Tools.

Can I turn off triggering posts completely?
Yes, you have the option to turn off triggering posts from appearing in your experience. This setting can be managed within Moderation Tools, giving you greater control over the type of content you see.
