What preference settings are available to me?
You can customise your experience at any time through Preferences in Settings. Below is a simple guide to the controls available to you.
How do notification bell subscriptions work?
Notification bell subscriptions allow you to stay updated on posts from specific users. When you tap the bell icon on a user’s profile, you subscribe to their updates. You can manage all your subscriptions at any time from Preferences in Settings.
Who can send me cards?
By default, anyone can send you cards. If you prefer more control, you can limit this to only people you follow who follow you back, or turn it off completely so no one can send you cards.
Can I control what appears in my feed?
Yes, you can manage parts of your feed experience. You can hide random posts if you prefer not to see lower-quality content. You can also turn off reactions, including heart counters and mood-based reactions, for a cleaner viewing experience.
What privacy settings are available?
You can manage several privacy-related features. The “My Activity” tab, which shows mutual activity between you and other users, can be hidden from your profile. You can also choose whether your achievements are visible on your profile page.
Can I control gifts and subscriber-related notifications?
Yes, you can choose to automatically reject hero subscription gifts if you do not wish to receive them. You can also turn off hero notifications, which are related to subscriber activity and updates.
Can I disable in-app features like games?
Yes, the Dots in-app game can be completely turned off from Preferences if you do not wish to see or interact with it.
How does auto-translation work?
Auto-translation is enabled by default and automatically translates posts into your app’s selected language. If you prefer to view content in its original language, you can turn this feature off.
Can I change the app language?
Yes, the app language can be changed at any time from Preferences. The app currently supports English, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), French, German, Hindi, and Spanish, with more languages planned in the future.
Can I customise emotes and animations?
Yes, you can control how emotes behave in the app. You can turn emotes on or off, manage which emotes you have muted, and disable emote animations for a simpler experience.
Where can I find these settings?
To update any of these preferences, go to the app’s sidebar and open Settings. From there, navigate to Preferences, where all of these options are available.
